This is my 12th year teaching as an elementary educator. I am originally from the beautiful island of Jamaica. I came to the United States when I was 12 years old. I entered Bloomfield College in New Jersey in the Fall of 2001 as an English Communication major. It did not take long for me to realize that my passion involved working with children, so I combined my major with Education. This has been the best decision I have ever made!

I taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades in New Jersey before moving to Birmingham six years ago. My teaching career in Birmingham began at Center Point Elementary School. I taught 2nd grade for three years before my principal asked if I would be willing to move down to 1st grade. I taught the accelerated class and was afforded the opportunity to loop with my students back to 2nd grade in 2016. The experience has been life-changing, knowledge-filling, and mind-blowing!

This is my first year teaching Literacy and Social Studies at Gresham Elementary!  I look forward to embarking on a new journey with a phenomenal group of fifth-grade students. I am excited about collaborating with all my students' parents. I believe that positive parent-teacher relationships contribute to children's school success.

Fredrick Douglas once said " Once you learn to read, you will be forever free", but I believe that once you learn to read,
